Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Tongs
  • Small bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds white fish fillets such as cod or tilapia, cut into strips
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 small tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage or slaw mix
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Optional

  • avocado slices
  • sliced jalapenos
  • Greek yogurt sauce
  • salsa
  • crumbled cotija cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  • Season the fish
Pat the fish dry and place it in a mixing bowl. Toss with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  • Air fry the fish
Place the fish in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping or shaking halfway through, until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.
  • Make the slaw
Toss the shredded cabbage with cilantro and lime juice.
  • Warm the tortillas
Warm the tortillas briefly so they are soft and easier to fold.
  • Assemble the tacos
Fill each tortilla with slaw and air fryer fish. Add avocado, sauce, salsa, jalapenos, or cheese if desired.
  • Serve
Serve immediately with extra lime wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Cod and tilapia both work well for fish tacos.
  • Cut the fish into similar-sized strips for even cooking.
  • Do not overcrowd the basket or the fish may not crisp as well.
  • Add sauces just before serving so the tacos stay fresh.
